14 Inches Of Snow On The First Day Of Spring

Poor robin!

Well, so much for the first day of spring!

A few weeks ago they called for a big snowstorm and we got...absolutely nothing.

Mother Nature sure made up for it yesterday by giving us fourteen inches of snow! It was that fine, blizzardy snow that just keeps falling all day long, and we enjoyed every minute of it. There's nothing better than when school calls to announce a snow day. All of a sudden I'm seven years old again. But with much better cooking skills of course :)

The afternoon before, I hit the grocery store and stocked up on the essentials; garlic, lemon, French baguette, and some Emmental and Gruyere.

My girls and I made an amazing traditional cheese fondue the night before the storm, and it was amazing. Between the three of us we ate nearly the entire thing!

I also remembered to stock up on birdseed and suet, and it always pays off for both the birds, and for us as well...

We got to watch a family of woodpeckers visit our feeders all day.

This morning it was beautiful.

Were you in the path of the storm?
How much snow did you get?

Have a great week!

Weekend Floral Illustrations: Here Comes Spring!

Hi friends! Wow, what a busy week we had here last week! It seemed like we had important events and things to do every day and evening, and I was so glad when the weekend finally rolled around!  I was so looking forward to doing something to help me unwind...something artsy of course!

I had a lot of fun doodling around with some watercolor flower illustrations. I painted them up with my watercolors and then inked them with some pigment ink pens. These were nothing stiff and formal, just loose and fun— and they were so relaxing to do!

I love how they turned out so I scanned a few of them into my computer and turned them into transparencies, cleaned them up, and then created some cool products with them in my POD (print on demand) shops on Society6, Redbubble, and DBH (DesignbyHumans.)

These really got me in the mood for spring! I love how the products turned out - especially the bedding and pillows. I think I will be turning these into cards that will be available in my Zazzle shop. I think they'd make great Thank You note cards and Wedding Invitations!

Dreamy Bohemian Garden Spaces II

Dreamy.
Exotic.
Magical.
Ethereal.

...Something that glimmers and shines, colored glass, little pops of unexpected paint colors, mixes of different tones of metals and patinas, mixing shiny with worn, and of course, organic natural textures and colors of grass and stone...

Take a look at these dreamy Bohemian garden spaces and I think you'll agree - they're out of this world...

Wouldn't you love to live here?

Create a mosaic with stained glass or beach glass scraps. Smooth the edges of the glass with a glass grinder, or put the pieces in a rock tumbler to create your own homemade faux beach glass. Use the pieces in a mosaic, like this one done in stone and concrete.

You can make your own awesome colored glass garden window with glass gems and stained glass scraps. Use a strong adhesive that dries clear, such as E6000 to adhere the glass & gems to an old window.
